Installation walk-through for 045555

Lutron document 045555 gives seven steps, in the document's order, after the fixings it lists.

The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.

Fixings

  • Two mounting screws (provided), or other fasteners suited to the surface
  • Self-adhesive receiver mounting bracket, tape pre-applied (provided)
  • Two antenna clips with mounting tape (provided)
  • Screws for the antenna clips (not included)
  • Three cable ties (provided)
  1. Check the contents

Open the box and confirm the five items. Expect the receiver with its drive connector and RF antenna, two antenna clips with tape and three cable ties.

The mounting bracket comes with its tape already applied, plus two mounting screws.

    Check: All five items present

  2. Connect the receiver to the drive

Plug the receiver's window treatment drive connector into the RF connector that leads from the drive. Route every wire clear of the moving treatment and fix the wires with the cable ties supplied.

Check: No wire can interfere with the normal movement of the treatment

  3. Mount the receiver

Choose one of two methods. Screw the receiver to window trim or a nearby surface, with the supplied screws or fasteners that suit it.

Alternatively, peel the backing off the self-adhesive bracket and press it onto the drive, headrail, track or a nearby surface. Push the receiver into the bracket.

Check: Adhesive bracket pressed firmly onto its surface before the receiver goes in

  4. Position the RF antenna

Fix the antenna clips with the tape supplied or with screws (not included), then clip the antenna in place. With the receiver mounted in the open, the antenna can sit close above or below it.

With the receiver in a pocket, behind a fascia or near signal-blocking metal, place the antenna outside that structure.

Check: Antenna outside any metal structure around the receiver

Warning: Power supplies, wiring and other current-carrying devices near the antenna can weaken RF performance. Keep the antenna as far from them as possible.

  5. Prepare the window treatment

On the drive, double-tap the Open Limit button. The treatment runs to the fully open position and the drive LED turns off.

Check: Treatment fully open and drive LED off

  6. Enter assignment mode

On the drive, hold the Open Limit button down until its LED flashes green and then stays lit. Let go and tap the arrow button beside the LED.

The drive LED and the receiver LED now flash green every 4 seconds. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for every treatment and receiver the same control will operate.

Check: Every treatment to be assigned shows the green flash every 4 seconds

  7. Complete the assignment

On the wireless control, hold the Close button down for 6 seconds. The button can look different from one control to another.

On a 4-Group remote, hold one shade group button instead, 1, 2, 3, 4 or All, for 6 seconds. Each treatment moves a short distance, a wiggle, to confirm the assignment.

Check: Every treatment in assignment mode wiggled

Other warnings Lutron prints in 045555

Questions about document 045555

The answers come from Lutron document 045555 and New Way's record of it.

What is Lutron document 045555?

Lutron's one-page sheet, printed P/N 045555 Rev B, 10/2016, served under the file name 045515. The sheet repeats every step in six further languages on the same page.

Which revision of 045555 is current?

Rev B, dated October 2016, is the revision Lutron publishes. New Way checked it against assets.lutron.com on 15 October 2026.

Which receiver model suits which frequency?

Five receiver models by frequency, per Lutron document 045555, all installed the same way.

  • 434 MHz: QSYC-J-RCVR, or QSYC-Q-RCVR for limited 434 MHz
  • 865 MHz: QSYC-N-RCVR
  • 868 MHz: QSYC-K-RCVR, or QSYC-M-RCVR for limited 868 MHz

What operating conditions does the receiver need?

Indoor use only at 32 °F to 104 °F (0 °C to 40 °C), per Lutron document 045555, and 0 to 90% humidity, non-condensing. Wiring and circuit protection follow national and local electrical codes.

Where should the antenna go?

As far as possible from power supplies, wiring and other current-carrying devices, per Lutron document 045555. In the open it can sit close above or below the receiver.

With the receiver in a pocket, behind a fascia or near metal, the antenna goes outside that structure.

How is a shade assigned to a wireless control through the receiver?

Lutron document 045555 pairs a treatment in three moves, confirmed by a short wiggle of the treatment.

  • Double-tap Open Limit on the drive to open the treatment
  • Hold Open Limit, then tap the arrow button, to enter assignment mode
  • Hold the control's Close button for 6 seconds to complete

Can one control be assigned to several treatments at once?

Yes: Lutron document 045555 puts each treatment and its receiver into assignment mode one after another. A single 6-second hold on the control then completes all of them.

On a 4-Group remote, a shade group button (1, 2, 3, 4 or All) replaces Close.

How is the receiver mounted, and can it be hidden?

Lutron document 045555 screws the receiver to window trim or a nearby surface, or seats it in the self-adhesive bracket. The bracket sticks to the drive, headrail or drapery track.

A pocket or fascia location is allowed as long as the antenna is fixed outside any metal structure.
