Installation walk-through for 045314

Lutron document 045314 gives eleven steps, in the document's order.

The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.

  1. Size each output from the wire length chart

Use the section 6 chart of Lutron document 045314 to size each output. The chart gives how many shades and controls one output may carry for the shade sizes on the job.

Then confirm the longest run for that load on the gauge chosen for the two power conductors.

    Clearance: One shade per smart panel output: 500 ft (150 m) on 12 AWG (4 mm²), 200 ft (60 m) on 16 AWG (1.5 mm²). On 18 AWG (1 mm²), 125 ft (35 m).

Check: Every planned run is inside the chart limit for its load and gauge.

  2. Set the open limit at the drive

Lutron recommends setting limits at the drive first. Tap Open Limit (green LED on) and hold either arrow button to run the treatment to the open position.

Then hold Open Limit until the green LED flashes.

Check: Green LED flashed: open limit stored.

  3. Set the close limit at the drive

Tap Close Limit (green LED on) and hold an arrow button to reach the close position. Then hold Close Limit until the green LED flashes.

Check: Green LED flashed: close limit stored.

  4. Check the link from a drive

Hold Close for 5 seconds, then tap CCW to enter link diagnostics mode. Every treatment on the link wiggles and flashes a green LED once per second; hold Close to leave.

Check: Any treatment that does not wiggle, or shows a red LED, has its wiring checked.

  5. Or check the link from the smart panel

At the Sivoia QS smart panel, tap Open and then hold it for 5 seconds, and do that twice. All treatments wiggle; a 5-second hold on Open exits the mode.

  6. Assign treatments to a keypad

Hold Open and Close together for 5 seconds: assigned treatments close, unassigned ones open. Step through treatments with Open or Close, tapping Lower to assign or Raise to unassign.

Hold Open and Close 5 seconds to exit.

  7. Set limits from a keypad or IR transmitter

Hold Open and Raise together for 5 seconds and select a treatment with Open or Close. Move it with Raise or Lower.

Save the open limit with a 5-second hold on Open, or the close limit with Close. Exit with Open and Raise held for 5 seconds.

  8. Store a preset

Bring the treatment to the position wanted with Raise or Lower, then hold the chosen Preset button for 5 seconds.

  9. Adjust single treatments within a preset

Hold Open and Lower together for 5 seconds, then tap the preset to enter preset-adjust mode. Select a treatment with Open or Close and set it with Raise or Lower, repeating for each treatment to change.

Lutron numbers the exit, Open and Lower held for 5 seconds, as step 12.6. The store, the preset held for 5 seconds, is step 12.7.

  10. Restore drive defaults

Hold Close Limit, then Open Limit, then the CW arrow, then the CCW arrow. Hold each until the LED flashes green and stays on.

The LED runs a multicolor sequence and goes out.

Check: Keypad assignments are cleared; the open and close limits are kept.

  11. Restore keypad defaults

Triple tap the top button, holding the third tap until its LED is solid, about 3 seconds. Release, triple tap again, and wait for the fast flashing to stop.

Check: Flashing stopped: the keypad is at factory settings.

Warning: Do not let go of the button after the third tap of the first sequence.

Requirements Lutron states in 045314

What the guide requires for a Sivoia QS shade before and during installation:

System and power
Drives and keypads run from a 24 V DC supply. One link carries power and communication to every drive, keypad and control, with or without GRAFIK Eye QS.
Drives per power supply output
A maximum of one shade or drapery drive per output of a QS link power supply. Up to 8 keypads on a link.
Link cable types
  • Power and communication link: 4 conductor
  • Communication only, between supplies or to a GRAFIK Eye QS: 3 conductor
  • Secondary wiring CL2, CL2P, CL2R, CL2X or equivalent
Smart panel
QSPS-P1-10-60, a 10-output smart panel fed at 120 V~ 60 Hz. Two or three Roller 64, or two Roller 100, may share an output depending on shade size.
Smart panel, one shade
One shade or drapery with up to 1 power draw unit per output:
  • 500 ft (150 m) on 12 AWG (4 mm²)
  • 200 ft (60 m) on 16 AWG (1.5 mm²)
  • 125 ft (35 m) on 18 AWG (1 mm²)
Smart panel, shared output
Shared outputs take up to 1 power draw unit, with shorter runs.
  • Two Roller 64 of 30 ft² (2.75 m²) or less
  • Three Roller 64 of 20 ft² (1.8 m²) or less
  • Two Roller 100 of 50 ft² (4.6 m²) or less
  • 200 ft (60 m) on 12 AWG (4 mm²)
  • 75 ft (20 m) on 16 AWG (1.5 mm²)
