About Drapery
Lutron's drapery family is three motorized curtain tracks, Sivoia QS, Palladiom and Alena, each moved by a belt-driven EDU. The EDU sits at one end of the track.
- The EDU moves the drape and holds its programmed positions
- Sivoia QS (086123, 086117, 086118, 086119): wall, ceiling or recess mount
- Palladiom (085820): exposed wall-mount track
- Alena (085319, 085327): pull-to-start hospitality track
- Pinch pleat and ripple fold; left, right and center draw
Power and control
All three Lutron tracks take Class 2, 35 V DC power from a plug-in, junction-box or 10-output panel supply. Control is wired over the QS link or wireless through a receiver; Alena also accepts contact closure keypads.
Choosing a track
Lutron's Sivoia QS takes the largest and heaviest work, Palladiom the exposed wall-mount work, Alena hotel guestrooms and multi-dwelling units. The guide below gives each track's lengths, weights and speed from its submittal.
Writing it into a tender
Attach the system submittal and, for Sivoia QS, the capacity submittal: 086117 (D105), 086118 (D145) or 086119 (D175). Installation guides: 045982 (Sivoia QS), 0450015 (Palladiom), 045981 or 045984 (Alena), 045983 with note 048843 (recessed).
Which Drapery system to specify

2 Lutron rates the drapery EDU at no more than 50 dB measured 3 ft (1 m) away on Sivoia QS and Alena (086123, 085319).
3 The EDU is the electronic drive unit at one end of the track.
4 Class 2 is the low-voltage power class, NEC Class 2, the supply must meet.
5 The QS link is Lutron's four-wire power and communication cable.
Questions about Drapery
Eight questions specifiers ask about Lutron drapery tracks, answered from the Sivoia QS, Palladiom and Alena submittals.
Which Lutron drapery track should I specify?
Lutron's Sivoia QS (086123) takes the longest and heaviest drapes, with curved, dual, tandem and recessed options.
How wide can a Lutron Sivoia QS drapery track be?
Lutron's chassis submittal 086123 allows 18 ft (5.5 m) with no splice and 41.6 ft (12.7 m) with splices, two at most.
- One splice: 72 in (1829 mm) to 432 in (10972 mm), two equal sections
- Two splices: 144 1/16 in (3659 mm) to 500 in (12700 mm), three equal sections
- Pull-to-start drapes: one splice at most, center draw
How heavy a curtain can a Lutron drapery drive move?
Lutron's D175 submittal 086119 peaks at 180 lbs (79.4 kg) of straight pinch pleat at 216 in to 252 in (548.6 cm to 640.1 cm).
- Ripplefold peak 165 lbs (74.8 kg) at 132 in to 168 in (335.3 cm to 426.7 cm)
- Palladiom: 125 lb (56.7 kg) with D175-L, 85 lb (38.6 kg) with D105-L (085820)
Does a Lutron drapery track need a power panel?
No: Lutron's plug-in QSPS-Px-1-35V (085329) or junction-box QSPS-J-1-35V (085544) powers one drapery drive each (085319, 085327).
- QSPS-10PNL: ten outputs, one drive per output (085335)
- QSPS-10PNL-NPM: two WIN-PS-5CC-R modules (085593)
- QSPS-30PNL-NPM: six modules for thirty outputs (085592)
Drive power runs 250 ft (75 m) on 12 AWG (4.0 mm²) (086123).
What is Lutron pull-to-start drapery?
Lutron's drive takes over after a person pulls the panel in its direction of travel (085319, 085327).
- Grasp the draw edge no more than 5 ft (152 cm) from the top
- Sivoia QS: QSSC-EDU-D105-P only, with manual open on power loss (086123)
- Not for tandem installations; any keypad button stops a moving Alena drape
Can a Lutron drapery track be curved?
Lutron's Sivoia QS offers standard curves with drive and idler legs of at least 24 in (610 mm) each (086123).
How is a recessed Lutron drapery track built into the ceiling?
Lutron's recessed system uses an 8 ft (2.4 m) pocket extrusion with mud-in flanges for 5/8 in (16 mm) double-layer drywall (086123, 085327).
What controls work with Lutron drapery tracks?
Lutron's drapery drives take wired or wireless control (086123, 085327, 085820).
- Wired: seeTouch QS keypads, GRAFIK Eye QS, HomeWorks QS, HomeWorks QSX, Quantum, Athena, myRoom Plus, myRoom XC, Pico via QSM
- Wireless: Pico, 4-Group RF remote, RadioRA 2, RA2 Select, RadioRA 3, HomeWorks
Caséta joins via Smart Hub PRO; Alena also accepts contact closure keypads. Pico range: submittal 369612.
