Check the parts and plan the structure
Confirm the track, the EDU with its end motor bracket, the terminal block and the fixings for the chosen mount. Plan clearance from window hardware, cranks, lock levers and stationary drapery.
Each fixing point needs a stud or structural member, or blocking added by the installer. The structure must carry the track, EDU and fabric.
Check: Structure or blocking is in place at every fixing point.
Warning: Lutron marks a risk of falling objects: fix the system firmly as the mounting steps describe.
Wall mount: fix the brackets
Set the bracket height so the finished panel clears the floor by the recommended gap.
Fix the end brackets near each end, then the next pair a set distance inward. Space the rest evenly, every bracket into a stud or structural member on one level line.
Clearance: Ends within 8 in (203 mm), next 16 in (406 mm) inward, rest 16 to 24 in (406 to 610 mm). Floor gap 1/2 to 1 in (13 to 25 mm).
Check: All brackets sit on a level horizontal line.
Wall mount: lock the track in
Turn every cam-lock to unlocked and lift the track up under them. Lock the cam-lock nearest the center first, then those either side, working outward in alternate directions.
Where a cam-lock does not meet the track, loosen the bracket adjusting nut, move the cam-lock and retighten.
Check: Both tabs of every cam-lock are fully engaged.
Warning: Two people must hold the full weight of the track until every cam-lock is engaged.
Ceiling mount: fix the cam-locks
Hold the track in place, parallel to the window or wall, and mark the ceiling at each end. Fix a cam-lock with its washer near each mark, then the next ones a set distance inward.
Fix the rest at the running spacing, into structural members on a straight, level line. Shim between washer and ceiling where the ceiling is uneven.
Clearance: Ends within 8 in (200 mm), next 16 in (406 mm) inward, rest 16 to 24 in (406 to 610 mm). Non-sheer panels: 16 in (406 mm) at the stackback.
Check: Every cam-lock has its washer and the line is straight and level.
Ceiling mount: lock the track in
Turn the cam-lock levers to unlocked and press the track up against them. From the center out to the ends, turn each lever to locked until its tab bears on the track.
Check: Every lever is locked with its tab against the track.
Warning: Two people hold the track's full weight until all cam-locks are engaged.
Recess mount: fit the recess brackets
Slide a recess-mount bracket into the track's upper channel and line its center hole up with a pre-drilled hole. Hold them together with a screw pushed through both.
Turn the bracket 90°, tighten its two set screws with the hex key, and take the screw out. Repeat at every mounting hole along the track.
Check: A bracket is locked at every pre-drilled hole.
Recess mount: screw the track into the pocket
Set the track in the pocket. Drive a wood screw through each track hole and bracket into the structural member above.
Leave room in the pocket for the fabric to move and stack back over the full travel.
Clearance: Pocket at least 2 1/4 in (57 mm) wide and 1 1/16 in (27 mm) deep; #8 x 1 1/2 in wood screws
Check: Every mounting hole has a screw into structure.
Warning: The wood screws suit wooden members only; the installer chooses fasteners for other structure. Two people hold the track until all screws are in.
Recess mount with the recessed solution
With the recessed solution, place the track in the pocket. Drive the provided track mounting screw through each track hole and recessed mounting bracket into the structure.
Lutron recommends the WIN-DREC-TOOL to space the track evenly in the pocket and guide the drill, protecting the track. The pocket's own mounting screws are not supplied by Lutron.
Clearance: 1/2 in (12.7 mm) track mounting screw
Check: The track sits evenly in the pocket with a screw at every hole.
Fit the drive unit
Push the EDU mounting flange into the rail box, tabs and drive shafts aligned, until the tabs are fully in. Turn the EDU in the flange to line up the chosen securing holes on the motor bracket.
Fit the securing screw. Slim orientation is recommended for fold style drapery; the original orientation uses the same steps.
Check: The securing screw is in and tight before the drapery runs.
Warning: Lutron says to keep the wire harness from being pinched when the EDU is turned.
Prepare the cable
Strip the outer jacket from the cable coming out of the wall, then strip each conductor. Lutron draws a 2-conductor cable and notes that conductor count and coloring can differ.
Clearance: 2 in (51 mm) of jacket; 1/4 in (6 mm) of insulation per wire
Check: Each conductor shows bare copper at the right length.
Warning: Lutron marks a shock hazard: lock the breaker off or remove the fuse before wiring the terminal block.
Wire the block, connect EDU and receiver
Land the conductors on the provided 4-pin block at Common and 24 V. Tighten each screw onto bare wire with the small flat-blade screwdriver.
Plug the block into the EDU connector, and the RF receiver into the EDU's RF connector. Secure all cables clear of moving parts; Lutron refers receiver installation to 045515.
Clearance: About 1/16 in (2 mm) of exposed conductor
Check: No screw clamps insulation and no cable can reach a moving part.
Warning: Do not power the EDU until the drapery fabric is hung.
Hang hooked drapery
Set the hooks (not supplied) so the panel hangs just under the track without rubbing. Hang the panel from the master carrier outward.
The last two hooks go on the EDU bracket hooks at the drive end. On a center-draw track, hang the idle-end panel the same way and finish on the idler end hook.
Clearance: Hook top 1/2 in (13 mm) below the top of the drapery; 1/2 to 1 in (13 to 25 mm) floor gap
Check: The panel clears the track and the floor.
Add or remove auxiliary carriers
Pry the square plug from the drive end of the track with a flat-blade screwdriver. Feed carriers in or out through the square hole, then push the plug back until it snaps home.
On center-draw tracks, also remove the idler end cover screw, the cover and the hook eye. Adjust the carriers through the idler end cap, then refit them.
Check: The correct number of carriers is on the track and the plug has snapped back in.
Dress the drapery at the drive end
Lutron draws how the fabric wraps around the drive end for each EDU orientation. Adjust the drapery pin height where needed so the drive-end pleats line up with the rest of the panel.
Check: The end pleats align with the other pleats.
Hang ripplefold fabric
Size the panel to the window; the track bottom and panel top usually sit 4 in (101 mm) above the casing. Clip a pendant to each male auxiliary snap on the drape, except the three at each end.
Hang the pendants in the auxiliary carriers. Fasten the end snaps to the drive or idler snap brackets and the master carriers to suit the configuration.
Clearance: 1/2 to 1 in (13 to 25 mm) floor gap
Check: Pull-to-start master carriers take female snaps; every other carrier and the snap brackets take male snaps.
Power up
Connect the power supply to a suitable source. The EDU's LED runs a red, green and blue pattern while it starts up.
Check: The LED has finished its start-up pattern.
Assign a wireless control
Hold the drive's Open limit button (the outline rectangle icon) until the green LED flashes and then stays lit. Tap the curved-arrow button on the drive; the drive and receiver LEDs flash twice every 4 seconds.
Repeat on any other drapery drive for the same control. Hold the control's bottom button for 6 seconds until the drapery wiggles once, confirming the assignment and ending assignment mode.
Check: The drapery has wiggled once.
Set the open and close limits
Tap Close on the assigned control so the drapery runs fully closed, then tap Open so it runs fully open. The limits are then set.
For a custom limit, tap the drive's limit button (green LED on) and move the drapery with the drive buttons. Hold the same limit button until the green LED flashes and goes out.
Check: The drapery stops at both chosen positions.
