About Palladiom
Lutron's Palladiom drapery is a wall-mounted motorized track on solid aluminum brackets, moved by a 35 V DC drive unit. Lutron's submittal 085820 (rev A) covers exposed wall-mount work.
- Finishes: Pure White, Clear Anodized, Satin Nickel, Black Anodized, Bronze Anodized
- Wall-mount only, straight track only, no dual mount; fabric panel not included
- Pleats: pinch pleat, ripple fold, S-Fold (outside North America)
- Draw: left, right, center or tandem; drive 1.9 lbs (0.9 kg), slim or original
- Master carrier 5 in/sec (127 mm/sec) to programmable stop points
Track and drives
A single Palladiom track runs to 12 ft (3.6 m) unspliced and 30 ft (9.1 m) with one or two splices. Lutron puts a mid bracket at every splice; the guide below gives the D105-L and D175-L weight tables by width.
Power and control
Lutron's submittal 085820 lists plug-in, junction box, 10-output and configurable panel supplies for the drive. Wired control runs over the QS link and wireless control through a receiver; the questions below name them.
Writing it into a tender
Attach submittal 085820 for the track, drive, finish, pleat style and capacity, and name the end treatment. The contractor follows Lutron's Palladiom drapery installation guide 0450015.
Which Palladiom product to specify
Eight options, each with the case it suits and the limits Lutron prints for it. The source link opens the document that states them.
| Option | Pick it when | Limits | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| QSSC-EDU-D105-L drive | Draperies up to 85 lb (38.6 kg) whose weight fits the D105-L table at the planned system width. |
| 085820Drapery Specification Submittal |
| QSSC-EDU-D175-L drive | Draperies heavier than the D105-L table allows, up to 125 lb (56.7 kg), or systems wider than 132 in (3353 mm). |
| 085820Drapery Specification Submittal |
| Pinch pleat heading | A pleated heading on hooks at 2x or 2.5x fullness, or 3x for sheer fabrics only. |
| 085820Drapery Specification Submittal |
| Ripple fold heading | Continuous ripples on Graber snap tape at 80%, 100% or 120% fullness; slim drive orientation gives a smaller first ripple. |
| 085820Drapery Specification Submittal |
| S-Fold heading | Projects in regions other than North America that want hooked S-Fold panels, in one-way or center draw. |
| 085820Drapery Specification Submittal |
| Spliced track | Straight runs longer than the 12 ft (3.6 m) single length, up to 30 ft (9.1 m). |

1 The D105-L and D175-L tables print the same pound values up to 132 in (3353 mm) (085820).
2 The connector supplied with Palladiom shades does not take 12 AWG wire (085593).
3 Lutron's 24 V DC QSPS-J-1-50 of submittal 085274 is not on the 085820 power list.
4 The EDU is the electronic drive unit at one end of the track.
5 Class 2 is the low-voltage power class, NEC Class 2, the supply must meet.
6 A PDU is a Power Draw Unit, Lutron's measure of keypad and device load.
Questions about Palladiom
Eight questions specifiers ask about Palladiom drapery, answered from Lutron submittal 085820 and the power submittals it names.
What is Lutron Palladiom drapery?
Lutron's submittal 085820 describes Palladiom drapery as a motorized track for exposed wall-mount applications on solid aluminum brackets.
- Finishes: Pure White, Clear Anodized, Satin Nickel, Black Anodized, Bronze Anodized
- Pleats: pinch pleat, ripple fold, S-Fold outside North America
- Draw: left, right, center, tandem
Lutron's Palladiom drive moves the master carrier at 5 in/sec (127 mm/sec) to programmable stop points.
How wide can a Palladiom drapery track be?
Up to 12 ft (3.6 m) with no splice and 30 ft (9.1 m) with one or two splices, per Lutron's submittal 085820.
Lutron places a mid bracket at every splice and prints straight tracks only.
How heavy a drapery can a Palladiom track carry?
Up to 125 lb (56.7 kg) with the QSSC-EDU-D175-L or 85 lb (38.6 kg) with the QSSC-EDU-D105-L (085820).
- Limit read from a table by system width
- Both: 85 lbs (38.6 kg) at 108 in to 132 in (2743 mm to 3353 mm)
- D175-L peak 125 lbs (56.7 kg) at 216 in to 252 in (5486 mm to 6401 mm)
Can Palladiom drapery be ceiling mounted?
No: Lutron's submittal 085820 prints wall-mount only, with no dual mount, and keeps 1 in (25.4 mm) between the track top and the ceiling.
Lutron's residential brochure 3671319 offers wall or ceiling mount, cove and recess for its drapery tracks in general. The brochure's drapery pages do not name Palladiom, so submittal 085820 governs.
How are Palladiom drapery brackets fixed and spaced?
Lutron's submittal 085820 fixes every bracket to blocking or structure with installer-chosen fasteners, each supporting 100 lbs (45.3 kg).
- Brackets 12 in to 48 in (305 mm to 1219 mm) apart, per the top views
- Shims 1/16 in (1.6 mm) and 1/8 in (3.2 mm) add projection
One of each ships per bracket; Lutron recommends two at most.
What powers a Palladiom drapery drive?
Class 2, 35 V DC from a Lutron supply listed in submittal 085820: plug-in, junction box, 10-output or configurable panel.
- Plug-in QSPS-P1-1-35V to QSPS-P4-1-35V; junction box QSPS-J-1-35V
- Panels: QSPS-10PNL, QSPSY-10PNL, QSPS-10PNL-NPM, QSPS-30PNL-NPM
- QSPS-10PNL-NPM output: 35 V DC, 143 mA, 5 W per drive (085593)
Lutron's 24 V DC QSPS-J-1-50 (085274) is not on the 085820 list.
Which keypads and remotes control Palladiom drapery?
Lutron's submittal 085820 lists two control routes for Palladiom drapery: the wired QS link and a wireless receiver. The QS link is Lutron's four-wire power and communication cable.
- Wired QS link: seeTouch QS keypads, GRAFIK Eye QS, HomeWorks QSX
- Wireless receiver: RA2 Select, RadioRA 3, HomeWorks QSX, Pico, 4-Group RF remote
- Wireless receiver: Caséta with Smart Hub PRO
What fullness and hook settings does Palladiom drapery use?
Pinch pleat at 2x or 2.5x the track width, or 3x for sheer fabrics only, per Lutron's submittal 085820.
- Pinch pleat: 1/2 in (13 mm) between the drape top and the hook top
- Ripple fold: 80%, 100% or 120% fullness on 4.25 in (108 mm) snap tape
