Installation walk-through for 045853

Lutron document 045853 gives eight steps, in the document's order, after the fixings it lists.

The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.

Fixings

  • 2 screws each: mounting bracket, center support, spacer block, hold down bracket
  • Fastener type and length: the installer's choice, for solid structure
  • Secure blocking where the structure needs it
  • Anchor pin in the bottom bar, for the hold down brackets
  1. Open and mount the brackets

Open each mounting bracket as the first picture shows. Fix it with 2 screws in a jamb mount or a wall mount.

Drive the screws into solid structure and add blocking where the surface cannot hold them.

Check: Each bracket held by 2 screws in solid structure. Set as the ticked picture shows, not as the crossed-out picture shows.

Warning: The installer is responsible for fasteners of a suitable type and length

  2. Add the center support on wide blinds

On a blind over 48 in (1219 mm) wide, fit the center support. Fix it to the ceiling or the wall with 2 screws.

Clearance: Blinds over 48 in (1219 mm) wide

  3. Fit spacer blocks where needed

Where a spacer block is used, set it behind the mounting bracket or the center support in a wall mount. Fix both with 2 screws.

  4. Lock the headrail into the brackets

With the headrail seated in the mounting brackets, push a bracket lock up into each bracket. The sheet shows the left side; repeat on the right.

Check: A bracket lock in each mounting bracket

  5. Fit the hold down brackets

Fix a hold down bracket to the wall, door or sill with 2 screws. Fit the anchor pin into the bottom bar and let it engage the bracket.

The sheet shows the right side; repeat on the left.

Check: Bottom bar held at both sides

  6. Position the valance supports

Place the left and right valance supports directly above the first and last tilt ladders. On a blind over 48 in (1219 mm) wide, add a third support as near the center of the headrail as possible.

Battery holders or other headrail parts may call for small shifts.

Clearance: Third support on blinds over 48 in (1219 mm) wide

  7. Fit and tighten each valance support

Follow the four-frame profile view. The valance support goes on at the front of the headrail and the last frame tightens it.

    Check: Every support tightened

  8. Set the valance clips

Insert a valance clip into the channel of the valance and rotate it 90 degrees. Squeeze its tabs to slide it to the position needed.

The drawing marks a release tab on the clip.

Other warnings Lutron prints in 045853
  • Caution, risk of falling objects: follow every mounting instruction
  • Ignoring the mounting instructions could cause minor to moderate injury
  • The installer picks fasteners of the right type and length for solid structure
  • Add secure blocking where needed
