Installation walk-through for 045507

Lutron document 045507 gives nine steps, in the document's order.

The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.

  1. Decide how the shade will be controlled

With a Lutron Smart Bridge in place, program and run the shade from the Lutron App. A RadioRA 2 shade is programmed in the RadioRA 2 Essentials or Inclusive software.

A HomeWorks QS shade is programmed in the HomeWorks QS Design and Programming software. For a Pico go to step 2, for a Lutron 4-Group RF remote to step 3.

Check: The control route is chosen before any button is pressed

  2. Assign a Pico wireless control

Tap the Shade Button on the shade; its LED lights. Press and hold the Close button on the Pico.

Repeat the same steps for each further Pico.

Check: The Shade Button flashes, which confirms the assignment

  3. Assign a Lutron 4-Group RF remote

Tap the Shade Button on the shade so the LED lights. On the remote, pick the Shade Group button the shade should belong to and press and hold it.

    Repeat for further assignments.

Check: The Shade Button flashes for the remote assignment

  4. Enter limit adjustment (optional)

The upper and lower limits come set from the window size and mounting option. Use this step only for a correction.

Tap the Shade Button, then press and hold the Open and Raise buttons together. Move the shade to the wanted position with Raise and Lower.

Check: The Shade Button flashes, then stays lit, before the shade is moved

  5. Save the upper or lower limit

With the shade at the wanted upper limit, press and hold Open. With the shade at the wanted lower limit, press and hold Close instead.

Check: The Shade Button flashes to show the limit is saved

  6. Set a favorite level (optional)

The factory favorite sits midway between the limits. Run the shade to the new level with Raise and Lower, then press and hold the Favorite button.

Check: The Shade Button flashes to show the favorite is saved

Warning: Where several shades share one control, take one battery out of each shade that should keep its current favorite

  7. Restore the shade to factory defaults

Tap the Shade Button three times quickly and hold on the third tap until the LED blinks green rapidly. Straight away, tap three more times quickly until the LED blinks green rapidly, then red-then-green three times, and goes out.

Check: The LED ends with three red-then-green blinks and turns off

Warning: The reset removes all control assignments and the favorite level; the limits are kept

  8. Reset a Pico wireless control

Triple tap the top or bottom button and keep it held after the third tap. Hold until the LED beside the top button stays on, about 3 seconds.

Release at once and triple tap again; the LED flashes quickly.

Check: The LED stops flashing, which means the reset is complete

Warning: Do not let go of the button after the third tap

  9. Reset a Lutron 4-Group RF remote

Tap All Shade Groups, then triple tap Open or Close and keep holding. The All Shade Groups LED lights for about 3 to 5 seconds.

Hold until that LED goes out, release at once and triple tap again. The LEDs of group buttons 1 to 4 and All Shade Groups light for about 3 to 5 seconds.

Check: All the LEDs turn off, which means the remote is back at factory settings

Warning: Keep holding after the third tap

Other warnings Lutron prints in 045507
  • A factory reset on any control removes shade assignments and favorites
  • Restoring the shade itself keeps the upper and lower limits

Requirements Lutron states in 045507

What the guide requires for a Triathlon shade before and during installation:

Programming routes
  • Lutron App via the Smart Bridge
  • RadioRA 2 Essentials or Inclusive software
  • HomeWorks QS Design and Programming software
  • The shade's own Shade Button, for a Pico or 4-Group remote

Favorite level
Factory set to the midpoint between the limits. Shades sharing one control take different favorites with one battery removed from each shade not being set.
Factory reset of the shade
Two rounds of three quick taps on the Shade Button, held until the LED blinks green, then three red-then-green blinks. Assignments and favorite are cleared, limits kept.
Drive supply
All four drive models run on 6 to 12 V DC at 5 W
