Installation walk-through for 048710

Lutron document 048710 gives five steps, in the document's order, after the tools and fixings it lists.

The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.

Tools

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Soft-jaw pliers, or fully padded regular pliers

Fixings

  • End cap and securing screw at each fascia end (step 1)
  1. Remove the end caps and securing screws

Take off the cap and the securing screw at each end of the dual fascia. Lutron's illustration shows a motorized system and notes that a manual system is similar.

Check: Both end caps and both securing screws are out before the fascia is handled.

  2. Support the fascia at both ends

Make sure the fascia is held firmly at each end so it cannot fall once it comes free.

Lutron's safety section sets the crew for this: two people, and two ladders if applicable, on systems wider than 48 in (1219 mm).

Check: Both ends of the fascia are supported.

    Warning: Risk of falling objects.

  3. Release the first end

With the padded pliers, grip the lower flange of the fascia from behind, close to the bracket. Pull the bottom edge down and away from the shade until the fascia comes free of that bracket.

Check: The bottom of the fascia is free of the first bracket.

Warning: Only soft-jaw or fully padded pliers may touch the fascia, to protect the finish.

  4. Release the other end

Repeat the same grip and pull at the bracket on the opposite end of the system. The bottom of the fascia is then free at both brackets.

Check: The bottom edge is released at both brackets.

  5. Lift the fascia off

Lift the fascia up and off both brackets. Lutron's note ends at this step and gives no refitting sequence.

Check: The fascia is clear of both brackets.

Other warnings Lutron prints in 048710
  • Systems wider than 48 in (1219 mm) need 2 people, and 2 ladders if applicable
  • Falling objects: ignoring the instructions risks minor to moderate injury
  • Removal may need force: tools and ladders sound, footing safe
  • Only soft-jaw pliers touch the fascia
  • Padded regular pliers need both jaws fully covered, no bare metal edge
