Installation walk-through for 045129

Lutron document 045129 gives twelve steps, in the document's order, after the tools and fixings it lists.

The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.

Tools

  • Small flat-head screwdriver
  • 5/64 in hex wrench (no metric size printed)

Fixings

  • 3 screws holding the EDU to the lower rail box (removed)
  • 4 screws, lower rail box to upper rail box (removed)
  • The same 4 screws refitted to the new lower rail box
  • Set screw on the upper rail box (loosened and retightened)
  • New parts: pulley shaft, bearing, lower rail box, 7-pin terminal block
  • New part: the enhanced EDU
  1. Power down

Unplug the existing drive unit at the EDU. Remove power from the transformer that feeds the EDU.

Check: The transformer feeding the EDU is off

  2. Take the track down

Remove the drapery track from the ceiling or the wall so the drive end can be worked on.

  3. Remove the old EDU

Take out the three screws in the lower rail box that hold the EDU. Lift the EDU away.

  4. Open the lower rail box

With a small flat-head screwdriver, remove the lower rail box side that held the three EDU screw heads.

  5. Remove the lower rail box

Take out the four screws that hold the lower rail box to the upper rail box. Remove the lower rail box.

  6. Slacken the belt (recommended)

Lutron recommends easing the belt tension so the new shaft goes in more easily. Mark on the track where the upper rail box sits now.

Loosen the set screw with the 5/64 in hex wrench. Slide the upper rail box assembly to slacken the belt.

Check: The present position of the upper rail box is marked on the track before the set screw is loosened

  7. Fit the new pulley shaft

Push the new pulley shaft through the plastic pulley and into the upper rail box. The note draws a correct and an incorrect position for the shaft.

Check: The pulley shaft is fully seated in the upper rail box

  8. Restore the belt tension

Slide the upper rail box back until it lines up with the mark made earlier. Tighten the set screw.

Check: The upper rail box sits on its original mark

  9. Fit the bearing and new lower rail box

Slide the new bearing onto the new pulley shaft.

Fit the new lower rail box over the upper rail box. Drive its four screws until snug.

Warning: Take care not to over-tighten the four screws

  10. Re-install the track

Mount the drapery track back on the ceiling or the wall. Lutron prints this step at the foot of page 4, after steps 10 to 13.

  11. Mount the new EDU, change the terminal block

Mount the new EDU following document 045121, the Sivoia QED drapery installation and operating instructions. At the transformer, wall control or power panel, replace the 7-pin terminal block with the new one, per document 045121.

  12. Power up and set limits

Restore power to the transformer and the EDU. Set the limits from the EDU as document 045121 describes.

Check: Limits are set from the EDU

Other warnings Lutron prints in 045129
  • Do not over-tighten the lower rail box screws
