Installation walk-through for 045930
Lutron document 045930 gives 13 steps, in the document's order, after the tools and fixings it lists.
The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.
Tools
- #2 Phillips screwdriver
- 1/4 in (6 mm) hex-head driver
- Tape measure
- Level
- Power drill
Fixings
- Bracket mounting screws, self-drilling, for solid wood: 4 per bracket
- Top back cover mounting screws, not included: 2 at each end
- Cover screw pairs: at least 1 per 24 in (610 mm) of width
- Shims (supplied) and a cable tie and anchor
- Spacer blocks, not included, where a wall mount must clear trim
- Installer-chosen fasteners for other surfaces, 250 lbs (113.4 kg) per bracket
Prepare to install
Read the important notes first. Check the Lutron items: reverse-roll shade, brackets, screws, shims, cable tie and anchor, fascia, optional top back cover and endcaps.
Have the screwdriver, hex-head driver, tape measure, level and drill to hand. Confirm there is blocking or structure behind each bracket.
Check: Structure behind each bracket position can carry 250 lbs (113.4 kg)
Warning: Risk of falling objects: follow every mounting instruction
Plan the cable entry
Bring the cable out of the wall, header or jamb on the drive side, with 12 to 18 in (30 to 45 cm) left exposed. Put a wall entry as high as possible and a header entry near the wall, clear of the fabric roll.
Pre-drill the top back cover if one is used. A jamb entry needs no drilling: use the cutout at the upper rear of the bracket as the template.
Clearance: Cable hole: at least 1.5 in (38 mm) in from the top back cover's end
Check: Hole big enough to adjust the cover without pinching the cable
Mount the top back cover (optional)
Skip to step 5 if no top back cover is used.
Confirm the surface is level for a header mount or plumb for a wall mount. Put any shims between the surface and the cover.
Drive two screws at each end of the cover and at least one pair per 24 in (610 mm) of width. The grooves in the cover mark the screw lines.
Clearance: Screws at least 1.5 in (38 mm) from each cover end. Pairs at most 24 in (610 mm) apart
Check: Cover straight, not twisted or tilted
Warning: A twisted or tilted cover can cause fabric rub, telescoping or rough, noisy running. Never shim between the cover and the brackets.
Fix the brackets in the top back cover
Mark both bracket positions in the cover at the bracket-to-bracket distance, centered over the window opening.
Fix the left bracket at its mark with four screws through the cover into the surface. Repeat for the second bracket and line the outside of each bracket up with the cover edge.
Clearance: Bracket-to-bracket = tube width + 1.5 in (38 mm)
Check: Brackets at the marks and centered on the opening
Mark the bracket locations (no top back cover)
Skip to step 7 if the brackets went into a top back cover.
Mark both brackets level and centered over the window, over a structural member. Set the positions from the bracket-to-bracket distance, not the shade, since the idler spring compresses as the shade is fitted.
Keep the fabric clear of trim, glass and any top treatment. A wall mount may need spacer blocks to clear the trim.
Clearance: Idler spring compressed to about 50% of travel at the correct distance
Check: Marks level, centered and over structure
Warning: Do not use the unmounted shade to set the bracket positions
Mount the shade brackets
Fix each bracket at its marks with four mounting screws. Confirm the pair is plumb, level and aligned, and add the supplied shims behind wall or header brackets if needed.
Check: Brackets plumb, level and aligned for smooth, quiet running
Orient the buttons and route the drive cables
Turn the shade so the control buttons at the drive end face the front, reachable from the room.
Each side of the square mounting yoke has a notch. Take the drive cable up or down through the upper or lower notches.
Check: Buttons facing the room
Hang the shade
Slip the idler-end yoke over the bracket tabs and behind the retaining screw head.
Push the shade toward the idler bracket to compress the spring-loaded idler. Then fit the drive-end yoke over its tabs and behind its retaining screw head.
Check: Drive cables sit in the yoke notch and are not pinched
Warning: Shades wider than 48 in (1219 mm) need two people, one at each end, and may need two ladders or lifts
Check and secure the shade
Measure the exposed idler shoulder: at the ordered bracket-to-bracket distance it should read about 3/8 in (9.5 mm). Move the brackets if it reads more or less.
Check the shade is level and centered, then firmly tighten the retaining screw at each end with a hand screwdriver.
Clearance: Exposed idler shoulder about 3/8 in (9.5 mm)
Check: Shade level and centered on the opening
Warning: Use a hand screwdriver only on the retaining screws
Wire the shade and set limits
Wire the shade and set the limits with Lutron document 045520, Sivoia QS Basic Wiring and Setup, enclosed with it. Set the upper limit so the bottom bar stays below the fascia and top back cover at full raise.
Cycle the shade up and down several times and fix anything that obstructs it.
Check: Bottom bar hangs below the fascia when fully raised
Warning: An upper limit set too high draws the bottom bar into the top treatment
Fit the endcaps to the fascia
Press the pegs of an endcap into the open channels at each end of the fascia.
Check: Both endcaps seated
Open the fascia latches
Check the fascia latch on each shade bracket is open before lifting the fascia. An open latch has its screw not fully seated and points upward at an angle.
Check: Both latches in the open position
Hang and latch the fascia
Hang the fascia's top lip on the upper hooks of both brackets. Let its bottom swing in to rest on the bracket standoffs.
Turn the latch screw clockwise with the Phillips screwdriver until the latch engages, then repeat at the other bracket. Pull the fascia gently outward to prove it is held at both ends.
Check: Fascia does not move under a gentle outward pull
Warning: Do not overtighten the latch screw; fascia wider than 48 in (1219 mm) needs two people
Count the top back cover screw pairs from 045930
Lutron document 045930 spaces the mounting screw pairs along the top back cover: one at each end, at least 1.5 in (38 mm) in from the end. The rest sit at most 24 in (610 mm) apart.
Enter the top back cover width to count the mounting screw pairs along the top back cover.

Requirements Lutron states in 045930
What the guide requires for a Sivoia QS Roller 64 shade before and during installation:
- Bracket load
- Each shade bracket must be fixed to blocking or other structural material with fasteners that support 250 lb (113.4 kg)
- Operating environment
- 32 °F to 104 °F (0 °C to 40 °C), 0 to 90% humidity non-condensing, indoor use only
- Screws per shade bracket
- Four mounting screws in each bracket, with or without the top back cover. The supplied self-drilling screws suit solid wood only
- Bracket-to-bracket distance
- Tube width plus 1.5 in (38 mm). The idler spring compresses to about 50% of its travel at the correct distance
- Idler compression check
- With the shade in the brackets the exposed idler shoulder should measure about 3/8 in (9.5 mm). More or less means the brackets need moving
- Fascia latch
- Each bracket's fascia latch must be open before the fascia is hung: screw not fully seated, latch angled up. The latch screw is then turned clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver until engaged, without overtightening
- Cable left exposed
- 12 to 18 in (30 to 45 cm), exiting the wall, header or jamb on the drive side. Wall entry as high as possible, header entry as close to the wall as possible
- Top back cover screws
- Two screws (not included) at each end
- At least a pair every 24 in (610 mm)
- Each at least 1.5 in (38 mm) from the ends
- Top back cover cable hole
- At least 1.5 in (38 mm) from the end of the cover. A jamb entry needs no hole because the bracket has a cutout at its upper rear
- Two-person lift
- Shades and fascia wider than 48 in (1219 mm) need two people, one at each end, and may need two ladders or lifts
- Upper limit
- Set so the bottom bar hangs below the fascia and top back cover when the shade is fully raised
- Shims
- Top back cover shims go between the mounting surface and the cover only, never between the cover and the brackets. A twisted or tilted cover can cause fabric rub, telescoping or noisy running
- Control buttons
- The drive-end square mounting yoke is turned so the control buttons face the front, reachable from the room side. Drive cables run up or down through the yoke notches
Questions about document 045930
The answers come from Lutron document 045930 and New Way's record of it.
What is Lutron document 045930?
Lutron's two-page guide titled Roller 64 Reverse-Roll Shades with 4-Inch Fascia, P/N 045930 Rev B. Lutron document 045930 covers the shade, its brackets, the latched fascia, and the optional endcaps and top back cover.
Which revision of 045930 is current?
Rev B, dated August 2023, is the revision Lutron publishes. New Way checked it against assets.lutron.com on 15 October 2026.
Which roller shades does 045930 cover?
Lutron Sivoia QS roller shades in the Roller 64 drive class. For related steps Lutron refers readers to document 045520.
What load must each reverse-roll Roller 64 bracket carry?
250 lbs (113.4 kg) per shade bracket, per Lutron document 045930, on blocking or other structural material. The installer chooses the fasteners; the supplied self-drilling screws are limited to solid wood.
Where does the cable enter on a reverse-roll 4 in fascia shade?
Lutron document 045930 brings the cable out on the drive side with 12 to 18 in (30 to 45 cm) exposed. Any hole in the top back cover sits at least 1.5 in (38 mm) from the cover end.
A jamb entry uses the cutout at the upper rear of the bracket.
How many screws hold each shade bracket?
Lutron document 045930 calls for four mounting screws in each shade bracket, in the top back cover or mounted directly.
- Top back cover: two screws at each end, not included
- Plus a pair for every 24 in (610 mm) of cover width
How do I confirm the shade is seated correctly?
Lutron document 045930 has the installer measure the exposed idler shoulder once both ends are in the brackets. The reading should be about 3/8 in (9.5 mm).
A smaller or larger reading means moving the brackets before the retaining screws are tightened with a hand screwdriver.
How is the fascia fixed on the reverse-roll Roller 64?
Lutron document 045930 hooks the fascia's top lip over both brackets' upper hooks, its bottom resting on the standoffs. Each fascia latch screw then turns clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver until the latch engages, without overtightening.
Both latches must be open before the fascia goes on, and a gentle outward pull confirms the fascia is held.
