Installation walk-through for 045616
Lutron document 045616 gives seven steps, in the document's order, after the tools and fixings it lists.
The clearance, the check and the warning under a step are the document's own.
Tools
- Level
- #2 Phillips screwdriver
- 1/4 in (6 mm) hex-head driver
- Tape measure
- Power drill
Fixings
- Self-drilling screws, supplied in both kits, for solid wood structural members
- Fasteners suited to any other mounting surface (installer's choice)
- Bracket shims (supplied in the single-mount bracket kit only)
- Cable tie and anchor (supplied in both kits)
- Spacer blocks for a wall mount, if needed (not included)
Check the parts and tools
Lay out the shade or shades and the bracket kits. The single-mount kit holds mounting brackets, mounting screws, bracket shims and a cable tie and anchor.
The dual-mount kit holds the same without the shims. Depending on the quantities ordered, the kits may arrive inside the shade boxes or separately.
Mark the bracket locations
Mark the bracket positions level and centered over the window, where the screws reach a load-bearing structural member. Set the spacing from the bracket-to-bracket distance, never from the shade, whose idler spring compresses as it goes in.
Leave room so the fabric cannot rub trim, the window or a top treatment.
Clearance: Bracket-to-bracket distance = tube width + 1.5 in (38 mm)
Check: At the correct distance the idler compresses about 50% of its travel
Warning: A wall mount may need spacer blocks, not supplied, to clear the trim
Install the mounting brackets
Fix the brackets at the marks with fasteners that suit the surface. Use 2 screws in each single-mount universal bracket and 4 in each dual-mount bracket, which fits one way only.
Check: Dual-mount brackets match the orientation Lutron draws in section 3
Warning: The supplied self-drilling screws suit solid wood structural members; the installer chooses fasteners for any other surface
Plan the cable entry
Bring the cable out on the drive side. On a single mount, choose an entry above or below the bracket, clear of the bracket and the moving fabric.
The dual-mount bracket offers a clearance hole on each of its three sides; use the bracket as a template.
Clearance: 12 to 18 in (30 to 45 cm) of cable exposed
Check: Cable entry and bracket position do not conflict
Orient the buttons and drive wires
Turn the control buttons to face down or toward the room, whichever stays easier to reach. The square yoke on the shade fits over the bracket tabs and has a notch on each side.
In ceiling or jamb orientation the lower notch takes the retaining screw, the wires the front or rear notch. In wall orientation the front notch takes the retaining screw, the wires the upper or lower notch.
Check: Wires sit in a notch the retaining screw does not use
Mount the shade
Fit the idler-end yoke over the tabs and behind the retaining screw head on the idler-end bracket. Press the shade toward the idler bracket to compress the spring-loaded idler.
Then fit the drive-end yoke over its tab, behind the retaining screw head on the drive-end bracket. On a dual mount, repeat both moves for the second shade.
Clearance: Idler compressed to 50% of its total travel
Check: If the idler is not at 50% compression, take the shade down and adjust the brackets
Secure and check the shade
Tighten the retaining screw at each end of the shade, and on the second shade of a dual mount. Confirm the installed shades are level and centered on the window opening, and move a bracket if they are not.
Check: Shade level and centered on the opening

Questions about document 045616
The answers come from Lutron document 045616 and New Way's record of it.
What is Lutron document 045616?
Lutron's four-page standard single and dual mount chassis guide for the Roller 20 and Roller 64, P/N 045616 Rev A. English sits on page 1, French on page 2, Spanish on page 3, the trilingual care note on page 4.
Which revision of 045616 is current?
Rev A, dated April 2018, is the revision Lutron publishes. New Way checked it against assets.lutron.com on 15 October 2026.
Which roller shades does 045616 cover?
Lutron Sivoia QS roller shades. For related steps Lutron refers readers to document 045520.
Does one guide cover both single and dual mounting?
Yes, Lutron document 045616 covers the single-mount universal bracket, which takes 2 screws, and the dual-mount bracket, which takes 4. The dual-mount bracket installs in one orientation only, and the second shade repeats the idler-end and drive-end steps.
Which fasteners does Lutron supply with the brackets?
Lutron document 045616 supplies self-drilling mounting screws that suit solid wood structural members. Lutron makes the installer responsible for fasteners on any other surface, sized for the operating load of the shade system.
What is the bracket-to-bracket distance?
Lutron document 045616 sets it at the tube width plus 1.5 in (38 mm). Measure from this distance, not the shade: the idler spring compresses to about 50% of its travel when spaced correctly.
Where does the drive cable enter?
Lutron document 045616 brings the cable out of the wall, ceiling or jamb on the drive side. Leave 12 to 18 in (30 to 45 cm) exposed.
A single mount takes the cable above or below the bracket. The dual-mount bracket has a clearance hole on each of its three sides.
Can the drive buttons face the room?
Yes, Lutron document 045616 lets the control buttons face downward or toward the room.
Choose whichever stays easier to reach once the shade and any top treatment are in. Either works with any bracket orientation and wire routing.
